RULES & EXPECTATIONS - USU Youth Programs require participants to adhere to the rules set forth by Utah State University pertaining to behavioral conduct, safety and security procedures, University Policies, and rules/consequences established by the covered program. Please ensure you are familiar with these standards when enrolling your child in a program.

COMMUNICATION - A communication plan informing you as the parent(s) or legal guardian(s) of the participant will detail the way the participant can be contacted during the covered program and how the program will communicate behavioral, medical, and emergency issues with the parent or legal guardian. 

WAIVERS - A signed medical treatment authorization form is required for each participant. In addition, a liability waiver is required as part of the program registration process, including media releases. All data gathered shall be confidential, is subject to University records retention policies, and shall not be disclosed except as required by law.

Participant Behavioral Code of Conduct

All Covered Programs should have a Participant Behavioral Code of Conduct that, at a minimum includes these items:

  1. The possession or use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs is prohibited.
  2. The possession or use of fireworks, guns, and other weapons is prohibited.
  3. The operation of a motor vehicle by Minors is prohibited while attending and participating in the program.
  4. No violence, including sexual abuse or harassment, will be tolerated.
  5. Hazing of any kind is prohibited.
  6. Bullying including verbal, physical, and cyber bullying is prohibited.
  7. Theft of property is prohibited.
  8. Misuse or damage of University property is prohibited. Charges will be assessed against those participants who are responsible for damage or misuse of University property.
  9. The inappropriate use of cameras, imaging, and digital devices is prohibited, including use of such devices in showers, restrooms, or other areas where privacy is expected by participants.

Covered Programs may add to this list as is appropriate to the program and/or activity.  Participant Behavioral Codes of Conduct should be included in the risk management plans and in documentation provided to parents and/or legal guardians.

    • USU issues campus alerts when there is a significant emergency, an ongoing threat of certain crimes on campus, or a safety concern from weather or off-campus incidents. USU Public Safety follows a decision matrix to determine which alert is sent to the university community. All alerts are sent through USU's campus alert system, and all members of the campus community should keep their notification settings in myid.usu.edu updated.
