Mandatory Reporting
If you believe a child is being abused or neglected, you are required to report it to the Department of Family and Protective Services (DCFS). Call the local police (911 or a non-emergency line) or the Utah Abuse/Neglect Hotline 1-855-323-3237. You can learn more about warning signs of abuse and neglect on our reporting page.

University Policy 534: Protection of Minors

This policy is designed to establish uniform requirements for appropriate supervision and protection of minors (individuals under 18 years of age) who are involved in covered programs, and includes requirements for risk management plans, background checks, and appropriate covered program evaluations.

Program Eligibility
The University requires any program involving minors to be sponsored and controlled by a University college, school, unit, or department. Student Organizations are not permitted to hold a program. Student organization may participate in a program sponsored by a college, school, unit, or department.
